Cathay Cargo experiences significant growth due to an increase in freight demand.

In August 2025, the Cathay Group reported a significant increase in cargo performance, with a 13% rise in freight compared to the previous year. Available Freight Tonne Kilometres grew by 15%, and overall tonnage for the first eight months rose by 11%. Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, noted strong demand for capacity to the Americas, particularly for lithium battery shipments to Oceania. Looking ahead, Cathay Cargo plans to introduce additional freighter services, including a new weekly flight to Madrid, to accommodate the anticipated cargo peak driven by high-tech product launches.
