The Port of Felixstowe has announced that it has placed an order for automated vehicles.

Hutchison Ports Port of Felixstowe has ordered 34 additional Autonomous Trucks (ATs) from Shanghai Westwell Technology Co. Ltd, doubling its fleet and reinforcing its leadership in port automation. The initial 34 ATs, introduced earlier this year, marked Europe's first successful mixed traffic operation with ATs. The new trucks will feature advanced sensor technology and support the port's goal of achieving Net-Zero emissions by 2035, aided by a private 5G network that enhances operational efficiency. A newly installed automated battery swap station will facilitate quick power exchanges, ensuring optimal fleet availability.
