FedEx Freight postpones the implementation of LTL classification.

by Web Administrator Jul 23, 2025 10:40

FedEx Freight is delaying the enforcement of the National Motor Freight Traffic Association's classification changes for 150 days to allow customers to adjust. These long-awaited updates will introduce a single density-based scale for LTL shipments, simplifying the classification process. FedEx may impose an inspection surcharge for shipments with inaccurate bill of lading information; fees apply if weight discrepancies exceed 50 pounds. Other carriers are preparing by enhancing their dimensioning capabilities to ensure accuracy in the new classification system.
