Accidents at level crossings in the port have significantly declined recently. Under the slogan "Red = stop," Infrabel, Port of Antwerp-Bruges, and various stakeholders are urging truck drivers to adhere to traffic rules. The awareness campaign emphasizes that 'Red means stop. Always,' especially following a tragic accident in 2024 where a truck driver lost his life in a collision. The Port has about 1,000 kilometers of track, with 20 crossings in Zeebrugge, and recorded nine accidents in 2024. The Port is implementing a "Master Plan for Safe Rail Crossings" to enhance safety through visible improvements and structural measures at high-risk areas.
