The updated tariff schedule is driving an increase in frontloading activities at the Port of Los Angeles.

The Port of Los Angeles is experiencing a surge in cargo volumes as shippers rush to import goods before new tariffs take effect on August 1, according to Executive Director Gene Seroka. July is projected to see 950,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), aided by extra loaders to manage shipments. Despite a strong June with an 8% year-over-year increase, Seroka anticipates a decline in volumes post-August as retailers have stocked enough inventory for the upcoming months, with predictions of a significant drop in cargo from August through November.
