Global air freight rates rose last week, with the Baltic Air Freight Index (BAI00) increasing by 3.4% as of July 14. Despite being the typically quiet summer season, the index is only down 3.1% year-over-year, suggesting resilience against potential tariff hikes on imports to the US. Rates from major hubs like China, India, and Europe saw increases, particularly on routes to the US and Europe. Notably, London's outbound rates surged by 11.4% week-over-week, reflecting strong demand, while rates from Chicago rose by 2.1% despite a year-on-year decline.
