According to Pitney Bowes' 2024 Parcel Shipping Index, Amazon is projected to surpass the U.S. Postal Service in parcel shipments by 2028, delivering 8.4 billion parcels compared to USPS's 8.3 billion. Amazon's logistics division has rapidly gained market share, moving past UPS and FedEx. As UPS reduces its Amazon volume, the e-commerce giant is increasing its reliance on its own delivery services. Meanwhile, alternative carriers are also gaining ground, offering competitive pricing, which has led to a decline in revenue per parcel for traditional carriers.
