Ethiopian Cargo, the freight arm of Ethiopian Airlines, has initiated a direct Boeing 777 freighter service between Urumqi, China, and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with two to three weekly flights. The inaugural flight on June 27 transported 105 tonnes of cargo in just over 7 hours. This new route is significant for enhancing logistics between China and Africa, aligning with the Belt and Road Initiative. It facilitates the swift transport of premium products from both regions, further expanding Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive cargo network, which already includes multiple routes to major Chinese cities.
