A federal appeals court has temporarily halted a ruling that found President Trump's tariffs on China and other countries exceeded his authority. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit granted a stay on the earlier ruling by the U.S. Court of International Trade while considering the government's appeal, with oral arguments set for July 31. The injunction had blocked tariffs justified by national emergency declarations, which the court deemed beyond the president's power under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, potentially weakening U.S. negotiating power in trade talks.
