Preliminary air cargo data for April shows a 6% year-on-year increase in worldwide tonnages, primarily driven by a 10% rise from Asia Pacific due to shifts in China-US trade regulations. Except for the Middle East & South Asia, all major regions experienced growth, with Central & South America seeing a 7% increase. April's average rate remained stable at $2.43 per kilo, despite a 14% drop in rates from MESA. The upcoming end of de minimis exemptions for U.S. imports from China is anticipated to cause demand fluctuations and pricing volatility in the near future.
