FedEx plans to implement higher peak season surcharges in 2024 to enhance profitability after a challenging quarter, according to EVP Brie Carere. The surcharges will primarily impact large-scale customers, but FedEx believes they can manage this without losing too many clients, as many fees are already pre-negotiated. Amid weaker demand and a shift to cheaper delivery options, FedEx aims to balance its revenue through surcharge management and adjusting its customer mix. Additionally, it will increase international fuel surcharges despite a drop in jet fuel prices, aligning with similar strategies from competitors like UPS.
