In 2024, Lufthansa Cargo made significant strides to enhance sustainability in air freight, focusing on reducing its carbon footprint through modern aircraft, fuel-efficient practices, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The airline upgraded its fleet to include Boeing 777F freighters, which are more fuel-efficient, and expanded its SAF initiative, saving around 8,500 tonnes of CO₂. Additionally, it optimized flight operations to cut fuel consumption and introduced electric vehicles for ground operations. Collaborating with industry partners, Lufthansa aims for a carbon-neutral operation by 2030 and a zero-emission logistics sector by 2050.
