CMA CGM has purchased the cargo division of Air Belgium as part of a strategic initiative.

CMA CGM, the French shipping and logistics company, has acquired Air Belgium's cargo business, a decision approved by the Brabant Wallon Business Court. The takeover includes Air Belgium's fleet of four aircraft and aims to retain 186 out of 401 employees across various roles. This acquisition follows challenges faced by Air Belgium, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and rising fuel prices, which led to the suspension of passenger flights. CMA CGM's air cargo division has been growing since its launch in 2021 and plans significant investments in new operations.
