UPS is reducing operations at its Charlotte, North Carolina facility, impacting 99 employees due to the closure of its day sortation shift starting May 2. This includes 76 part-time hourly workers, 21 part-time management, and 2 full-time management staff. The company aims to mitigate job losses by offering alternative positions where possible. This move follows previous sortation shift closures in other states as part of a broader overhaul of UPS's U.S. network, which is expected to yield $1 billion in savings through efficiency improvements. Further cuts may occur, particularly in Indiana.
