The Port of Los Angeles, in collaboration with Catalina Express and Harbor Breeze Cruises, will launch emission-reduction technology demonstration projects for harbor craft, funded by a $31 million grant from the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The initiative aims to test advanced, less-polluting marine vessels, including a new passenger ferry using Tier 4 engines and renewable diesel, alongside two zero-emission excursion boats. The project, part of California's climate efforts, also includes evaluations of infrastructure needs and workforce training for new technologies, with significant financial contributions from partners.
