DHL Supply Chain has partnered with Volvo Autonomous Solutions to launch autonomous transportation services along two Texas routes: Dallas to Houston and Fort Worth to El Paso. These operations utilize Volvo VNL Autonomous trucks equipped with the Aurora Driver self-driving system, focusing on retail freight. This initiative aims to enhance freight capacity and optimize supply chain efficiency in a key trucking state, addressing challenges like driver shortages and long transit times. However, the transition to autonomous trucking still faces hurdles, particularly regarding insurance and liability concerns.
