UPS is raising rates and delivery area surcharges for its SurePost services starting January 13, with increases depending on package weight and shipping distance. For instance, a one-pound parcel in zone 2 will see a nearly 10% hike, while a 25-pound zone 8 parcel will increase by about 6.7%. This follows a 15.4% year-over-year rise in UPS' ground residential volume due to higher demand from e-commerce. Concurrently, the U.S. Postal Service plans to eliminate contracted rate discounts and raise rates by 10.3% for Parcel Select shipments, pushing shipping partners to utilize its network more efficiently.
