Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai will cease freighter operations from August 16, 2025, due to necessary upgrades aimed at improving capacity and efficiency. Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) informed cargo partners of the temporary closure, which aligns with the opening of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) on the same date, expected to enhance freighter operations in the region. NMIA will feature advanced cargo infrastructure and is positioned to accommodate growing demand, although ongoing discussions regarding the transition continue among cargo carriers.
