Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) has expressed disappointment over IATA’s allegations regarding the planned closure of freighter operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) starting August 16, 2025. MIAL defended its decision, stating that the changes followed a transparent and consultative process aligned with regulatory frameworks, aimed at enhancing infrastructure. IATA criticized MIAL for not adhering to international capacity management guidelines and urged immediate engagement with airlines to mitigate disruptions. MIAL rejected claims of coercing airlines to move to Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and emphasized its commitment to fair coordination with stakeholders.
