However, Logistics UK questions the government’s neglect of low carbon fuels, which could aid in meeting decarbonisation goals. The organization’s Deputy Director, Michelle Gardner, emphasizes that while the logistics sector is committed to decarbonisation and exploring various fuels and technologies, significant barriers remain. She advocates for urgent support for low carbon fuels, like Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, which can drastically reduce emissions in the short term.
