Chile’s seafood industry has achieved a notable milestone with its first shipment of fresh, chilled salmon fillets to Australia, weighing 220 kilograms and exported by two Chilean companies via LATAM Cargo. This success followed a thorough audit by the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca) to ensure compliance with Australian sanitary and safety standards. Recognized by Australia’s Department of Agriculture as an eligible exporter, this shipment opens a market of over 26 million people, offering new opportunities for Chilean salmon products, which already accounted for $4.1 billion in exports this year.
