The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has introduced a draft solar supply chain standard aimed at helping companies meet U.S. Customs and Border Protection traceability requirements. This first-of-its-kind standard outlines methods for forced labor due diligence, including material traceability from suppliers to finished products. With increased reliance on imports, the solar industry faces scrutiny under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, necessitating clear evidence against forced labor claims. SEIA encourages cooperation across the supply chain and is accepting public comments until November 4, aiming to finalize the standard early next year.
