In 2024, maritime shipping in Rotterdam saw a slight decrease in overall fuel bunkering, totaling 9.8 million tonnes compared to 9.9 million in 2023. Fuel oil and marine gas oil demand dropped by 0.9%, while LNG demand rebounded significantly, increasing by 52% to 0.94 million m3 after a previous decline. Following its introduction in 2023, bio-methanol demand surged to nearly 4,000 tonnes, up from 750 tonnes. However, bio-blended fuels experienced mixed trends, with a growth in the first half of the year followed by a decline, maintaining a total demand of 750,000 tonnes.
