The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) has announced a strike mobilization plan in response to ongoing contract negotiations with the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX), with a potential strike set for October 1 if an agreement isn’t reached by September 30. ILA President Harold Daggett emphasized the need for readiness among members. The USMX expressed willingness to negotiate and hopes the ILA will clarify its contract demands. The looming strike has prompted shippers to expedite cargo movements, particularly at ports in California, as retailers implement strategies to mitigate disruption during the peak shipping season.
