HSBC Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific, and EcoCeres have partnered to promote sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Hong Kong, marking a significant step toward decarbonizing air travel. HSBC has signed a purchase agreement for approximately 3,400 metric tonnes of EcoCeres’ SAF, derived from waste biomass and expected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% compared to conventional fuels. This collaboration aligns with the Hong Kong government’s sustainability goals, aiming for a SAF usage target next year, and positions Hong Kong as a leader in the SAF ecosystem.
