In 1997, Jack Ampuja joined the editorial advisory panel of Supply Chain Management Review, where he was encouraged by founding editor Frank Quinn to write an article. Eventually, Ampuja collaborated with Ray Pucci, a former colleague, to write about managing inbound freight. Despite SCMR’s focus on futuristic topics, Quinn agreed to publish their piece. After extensive edits, their article, “Managing Inbound Freight—Often a Missed Opportunity,” was published in April 2002, and has since gained significant attention, prompting the need for an update.
