Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK) recently managed its longest freight shipment for the oil and gas industry, transporting a 67-foot, 24-tonne piece from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, alongside two additional components. The operation, which required three main deck loaders and two cranes, was executed in just 30 minutes due to meticulous planning by PIK’s ground handling team. Investments in new equipment, such as high loaders and a heavy-duty pushback tractor, have enhanced PIK’s cargo capabilities, supporting its 24/7 operations and strategic location as a transport hub between the Middle East and the USA.
