Hapag-Lloyd has announced that the “Gemini Cooperation” ocean network is now open for bookings, marking a long-term partnership with A.P. Moller-Maersk set to launch in February 2025. This collaboration aims to create a reliable, flexible ocean network encompassing seven trades and 57 services, utilizing around 340 modern vessels with a total capacity of approximately 3.7 million. Hapag-Lloyd will exit the THE Alliance at the end of January 2025, while both companies emphasize their commitment to high reliability and ambitious decarbonization targets, with Maersk aiming for net-zero by 2040 and Hapag-Lloyd by 2045.
