Finnair and DB Schenker have launched a sustainability partnership, with DB Schenker agreeing to buy nearly 400 tons of CO2e reductions, equivalent to about 120 tons of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from Finnair. Both companies aim to enhance SAF use to cut greenhouse gas emissions in air cargo transport, as SAF can reduce emissions by up to 80% compared to fossil fuels. Finnair has set a target to lower its carbon emissions intensity by 34.5% by 2033 and strives for net-zero emissions by 2050, while DB Schenker, an early SAF adopter, seeks to expand low-carbon air freight solutions.
