In week 38 (September 16-22), global air cargo tonnages fell by about three percent, primarily due to national holidays in China, South Korea, and Chile, with a significant decline from the Asia Pacific region, which accounted for 73 percent of the drop. The decrease was largely attributed to South Korea (-33 percent) and China (-six percent). Despite the decline, global rates remained high, supported by strong demand from e-commerce and ongoing geopolitical tensions. Additionally, Bangladesh’s air cargo rates surged due to political instability and logistics issues, reaching record highs.
