FedEx will impose a demand surcharge of $0.45 per pound for parcel shipments from China, Hong Kong, and the Philippines entering the U.S., effective Tuesday until May 2. This follows a previous surcharge of $1 per pound during a similar period. UPS has also introduced a related fee of $0.29 per pound for shipments from these regions. The changes come amid ongoing trade volatility and adjustments to customs processes, particularly affecting shipments under the de minimis exemption, which will no longer apply to certain products from China and Hong Kong starting May 2.
