FedEx Freight has appointed John A. Smith as the new president and CEO to take over after the company’s planned spinoff, expected to be completed by June 2026. Currently serving as COO for U.S. and Canada ground operations, Smith previously led FedEx Freight from 2018 to 2021, successfully increasing revenue during challenging times. R. Brad Martin will become chairman of the board post-spinoff. Despite recent financial struggles, including a 6% revenue drop in Q3, FedEx’s leadership remains optimistic about future performance.
