He noted that the airline benefited from Hong Kong’s status as a leading air cargo hub, transporting 1.5 million tonnes of cargo in 2024, a 10% increase from the previous year. Lam emphasized a balanced cargo mix from traditional trade and growing e-commerce, enhancing stability. Cathay Cargo operates 20 Boeing 747 freighters and plans to acquire Airbus A350 freighters starting in 2027, leveraging existing operational familiarity for efficiency.
