DP World has announced a £1bn expansion of London Gateway, aiming to make it Britain’s largest container port within five years. This development will add two new shipping berths, increasing the total to six, and introduce a second rail terminal to accommodate rising container trade. The expansion is expected to create 400 additional jobs and enhance the site’s capacity to simultaneously handle six large vessels. Over £3bn has been invested at London Gateway, which has become a significant logistics hub since its opening in 2013, contributing to economic growth in the region.
