DHL Express is investing €100 million to enhance its air cargo and ground handling capabilities in preparation for the anticipated increase in global e-commerce sales, projected to rise by 8.8% in 2024. The investment includes the deployment of eight new Boeing 777 freighters on key routes between Asia, Europe, and the Americas. To manage peak season demand, DHL has introduced a surcharge based on shipment origins, particularly affecting exports from Asia. The company is also expanding its airport handling capabilities to ensure flexibility amid rising demand and potential supply chain disruptions.
