Global brands are temporarily halting ocean shipments from China as they evaluate the impact of escalating tariffs between the U.S. and China, with some prices increasing by up to 145%. The Port of Los Angeles has seen around 12 canceled sailings for May due to this uncertainty. While March volumes were strong, there is an expectation of a significant decline in imports from July onwards, as companies may struggle with absorbing costs or passing them on to consumers. The situation remains fluid, and the long-term effects on trade are still unclear.
