Challenge Group has successfully registered Europe’s first Boeing 777-300 Extended Range Special Freighter (ERSF) under the 9H Air Operator Certificate. This ‘Big Twin’ conversion program, initiated by AerCap and Israel Aerospace Industries Group (IAI), has led Challenge Group to order four of these aircraft. The airline plans to start operations with two units this year, aiming to be the first European operator of the freighter. Currently, the group manages a fleet of 10 aircraft and handles 300,000 tonnes of cargo annually, but the aircraft’s market entry is delayed pending necessary certifications.
