Cathay Cargo Terminal has successfully conducted its first end-to-end trial of autonomous electric tractors (AET) for towing cargo at Hong Kong International Airport. The AET autonomously transported cargo dollies from the terminal to the west cargo apron, featuring a precise docking solution for seamless loading. This initiative, a collaboration with the Airport Authority Hong Kong and UISEE, enhances operational safety and efficiency while reducing carbon emissions. Additionally, the terminal is exploring the use of hydrotreated vegetable oil as a renewable fuel alternative for its non-electric tractors.
