Canada Post employees, represented by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), will soon vote on new contract offers after a prolonged negotiation impasse. Minister of Jobs and Families, Patty Hajdu, ordered the vote to address ongoing labor disputes and the impact on small businesses. CUPW, which has over 50,000 members and has been under an overtime ban since May, criticized the offers for inadequate pay raises and weekend delivery. While Canada Post welcomed the vote, CUPW plans to urge members to reject the proposals, emphasizing that forced agreements won’t lead to lasting labor peace.
