Canada Post workers across the country initiated a strike after over a year of unsuccessful contract negotiations. The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), representing around 55,000 employees, cited unresolved issues such as fair wages, safe working conditions, and job security as reasons for the strike. CUPW stated that Canada Post failed to negotiate effectively and threatened changes to working conditions, leading to the strike’s onset. This strike, occurring just before Black Friday and the holiday season, will halt mail processing and deliveries, significantly affecting Canadians reliant on postal services.
