Effective January 1, 2025, Berte Simons will become the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, succeeding Boudewijn Siemons, who is now the CEO. Appointed for four years by the shareholders, including the municipality of Rotterdam and the Dutch national government, Simons brings extensive experience as a marine engineer and in managing large infrastructure projects. Currently a director at Energie Beheer Nederland, she is involved in the Porthos project, and aims to promote sustainable development at the port, emphasizing its global connectivity and environmental harmony.
