Air cargo tonnages from Asia Pacific are recovering towards pre-Lunar New Year levels, with rates also increasing. In week 8, chargeable weight flown from this region rose by six percent, nearing mid-January levels. Specific routes saw gains: Asia Pacific to Europe up five percent, with China to Europe and Japan to Europe up by five and nineteen percent, respectively. Demand to the U.S. also improved, with average spot rates close to $5 per kilo. Globally, tonnages increased by one percent, while average rates rose two percent, reflecting a stable market despite fluctuations due to Lunar New Year timing.
