Amazon has started building a 3.1-million-square-foot robotics fulfillment center in Goochland County, Virginia, expected to be operational by 2027. This will be the company’s fourth such facility in Virginia, adding to its existing centers and reflecting Amazon’s commitment to enhancing supply chain efficiency with technology. The company is also expanding its use of robotics across the U.S. and testing new technologies while optimizing its fulfillment operations. Competitors like Walmart and other retailers are similarly increasing automation in their supply chains.
