Airbus has announced the closure of its Airbus Beluga Transport (AiBT) subsidiary, which began operations in January 2022. While no specific reasons were provided, an Airbus spokesperson indicated that regular reviews of business performance led to this decision, despite overall high air freight demand. The four BelugaST aircraft will now be managed by Airbus Transport International, which operates a newer BelugaXL fleet. Future plans for the oversized cargo market are uncertain, with Airbus focusing on its broader air cargo offerings, amid challenges in demand and operations.
