Global air freight rates are on the rise, with the Baltic Air Freight Index increasing by 2.3% week-on-week and 3.5% year-on-year as of March 24, according to TAC Index. Rates from China have climbed, especially from Shanghai, while trends from other Asian countries show mixed results, with some declines. In Europe, rates fell on various routes, although outbound routes from Frankfurt saw a notable increase of 9.5% week-on-week. Meanwhile, the Americas experienced a 5.8% rise in outbound rates from Chicago, driven mainly by increases to Southeast Asia.
