Global air freight rates remained stable last week, with the Baltic Air Freight Index decreasing by 0.3%, yet still up 9.4% year-over-year. The market was quiet ahead of China’s Golden Week, typically a period of rising rates, raising uncertainty about upcoming demand during the peak season. While rates from China to Europe increased week-over-week, those to the U.S. declined but showed similar annual growth. Most major indices fell, except Frankfurt, which rose by 5.7% due to higher rates to China and Southeast Asia. North America’s outbound rates remained steady, with a slight drop from Chicago.
