For the week ending November 16, U.S. rail carload and intermodal volumes displayed mixed results, as reported by the Association of American Railroads (AAR). Rail carloads rose 5.6% year-over-year to 223,659, although this was a decline from previous weeks. Notable gains were seen in petroleum, chemicals, and farm products, while coal and metallic ores experienced significant declines. Intermodal units increased by 3.2% to 293,227. Year-to-date figures show a 3.1% decrease in carloads, while intermodal volumes rose by 9.1%.
