Academy Sports and Outdoors is reducing its reliance on Chinese goods, currently sourcing 50% of its inventory from China, down from over 70% in 2019. The CFO, Carl Ford, stated this diversification strategy aims to mitigate risks, including exposure to tariffs. The company has also accelerated shipments to avoid potential delays from labor disputes at East Coast ports and is adapting to changes in trade policy. Additionally, Academy is modernizing its supply chain and enhancing its omnichannel capabilities, including new management platforms and on-demand delivery services.
