The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) expressed concern over the U.S. Department of Labor’s decision to cancel contracts for the Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), including programs aimed at improving labor conditions in several countries. The AAFA, representing over 1,000 fashion industry members, urged the reinstatement of these contracts to enhance labor rights, particularly in Uzbekistan’s cotton industry. The cancellations are expected to adversely affect numerous global safety and educational initiatives, hindering efforts to promote fair labor standards and protect American workers.
