The Port of Rotterdam has introduced a fully electric hydrofoil patrol vessel, named RPA ZERO, as part of its fleet renewal program aimed at enhancing sustainability. This futuristic vessel, which reduces drag and wave impact, is being evaluated for its effectiveness in the Harbour Master’s Division tasks over a pilot scheme running until November 2025. The Port Authority seeks to create an emission-free fleet that operates 24/7, while Dr. Iain Percy of Artemis Technologies emphasizes the collaboration’s potential to support decarbonization and maintain safety standards.
